Update: First Treatment Is Here!

On Feb 28, 2023 AKA Rare Disease Day, Reata Pharmaceuticals announced the FDA approved the very first treatment for FA!!! The Omaveloxolone drug that I had written a little over two years ago in One Step Closer Towards A Cure.

The Omav drug can potentially improve neurological symptoms and slow progression down in patients with FA. It isn’t a cure, but it’s a treatment… which is AMAZING and may lead to more treatments in the future.

My family, along with the FA community, couldn’t be happier with this exciting news! I’m ready for this and cannot wait for it to be accessible for me, my brother, and FAmily. Yup, these wheels won’t be going anywhere.. But that’s only for now;)

I provided Reata’s link for more info on Omav (bc ya know it’ll give a better explanation then me lol): https://www.reatapharma.com/investors/news/news-details/2023/Reata-Pharmaceuticals-Announces-FDA-Approval-of-SKYCLARYS-Omaveloxolone-the-First-and-Only-Drug-Indicated-for-Patients-with-Friedreichs-Ataxia/
