To New Beginnings

To New Beginnings

While on vacation this past week, my mom bought me a little moonstone to put in my dorm room. She’s very into crystals, and lately I’ve been getting into them too. When we were at the shop, the moonstone meaning drew me in. My mom insisted she get one for me, as it will be a reminder of the new beginnings I am about to encounter after these next few months.

“Moonstone: New Beginnings

. . . . .

A stone of inner growth and strength. It soothes emotional instability and stress, and stabilizes the emotions. It provides calmness. Enhances intuition, promotes inspiration, success and good fortune.”

My college years are flying by so fast. In a couple days, I will be going back to Marist to finish my senior year. While I’m going to miss my family and friends at home, this makes me have so many other emotions- excited to see my friends, anxious for the amount of work that is going to hit me, proud for how much I’ve grown since I was a freshman, shocked at how quick college was, and even a little bit sad because I’m a senior and graduating this December (because ya girl is smart!!)

Sometimes it scares me to look too ahead, but it’s also difficult to not think of the future after college; especially because it is so soon. I want to enjoy these last few months (and get one last blog post in before my classes begin). But at the same time, I can’t help but look forward to new experiences, and yes even if I am a little nervous!

It’s normal to have mixed emotions about the unexpected, but I think that we know what’s right for us when we have that feeling: the feeling of excitement and fear all in one. The most important thing to that is we should never let that fear get in the way of something we want to do.

So my newly moonstone of a gift is a symbol of what I want for my future and what I have to look forward to, as it excites me and scares me at the same time.

Cheers to my last semester, and to new beginnings.

    Good morning,

I’m sorry it took so long to respond to this. The bond with your mom is very special. I can feel that she is your “North Star,” and a very strong one at that. Yes, time flies by. Everyone tells you it would but it’s rare we listen. My kids are 8 & 6 now. It felt like yesterday they learned to walk. Live for the moment but be aware of the future. There’s a balance that should never teeter towards in the moment vs. thinking ahead. It’s not easy but you have your North Star to steer you back into your lane when you need it.

I hope you and the family are well!
